High School Teacher

Highschool

Job Description
High school teachers (a.k.a. secondary school teachers) help students delve more deeply into subjects introduced in middle school. They usually specialize in a specific area of study, such as technology, English, Spanish, mathematics, history, biology, or a more career-oriented subject.

Educational Paths
Public school teachers are required to be licensed through the state board of education. Each state board has its own specific requirements, but many require a bachelor’s degree in education. Licensing may not be required for private school teachers.

Job Outlook
The number of teachers employed is dependent on each state and local expenditures for education, as well as on the enactment of legislation to increase the quality and scope of public education.
